What I fix
Most small offices run on Microsoft 365 with the default settings and a few laptops nobody manages. That works until a password gets phished or a laptop goes missing. Here's what I put in place.
Lock down your accounts
- MFA on every login with Conditional Access
- Admin roles cleaned up, emergency accounts set aside
- Old sign-in methods that skip MFA turned off
- SPF, DKIM and DMARC so nobody can spoof your domain
Manage every laptop
- Windows laptops enrolled in Microsoft Intune
- BitLocker encryption with recovery keys you control
- Updates, screen lock and firewall enforced by policy
- Defender for Business watching every device
Get your data back
- Off-site backup of Outlook, OneDrive, SharePoint and Teams
- A real test restore before I call it done
- A one-page plan for a lost laptop or deleted folder
Pass the insurance questionnaire
- Your current controls checked against what carriers ask
- Gaps closed: MFA, endpoint protection, tested backups
- A written incident response plan
- An evidence pack you hand to your broker
Migrate and get ready for AI
- Move from GoDaddy email or Google Workspace to Microsoft 365
- Old file servers and shared drives moved to SharePoint and OneDrive
- File permissions cleaned up before you turn on Copilot
Make your team harder to phish
- Short monthly security training videos
- Practice phishing emails with a simple report on who clicked
- Completion records for your insurance renewal
Keep it that way
- New hires and departures handled, licenses included
- Weekly check of devices, updates and security alerts
- A monthly check-in call and remote help when you need it
Cyber insurance in 2026
Your renewal now asks for proof
Carriers used to take your word for it. Now the questionnaire asks whether each control is in place, and a claim can be denied if it wasn't running when the incident happened. These are the items they ask about most.
- MFA on email, remote access and admin accounts
- Endpoint detection and response on every device
- Backups that can't be deleted, with a tested restore
- Written incident response plan
- Security awareness training records
- Patching and limited admin rights
- Email security: SPF, DKIM, DMARC

Who you'll work with
Ian Yeager
By day I support Microsoft 365, Intune and Windows for a large company with hundreds of users. The security tools I use there are the same ones included in the license most small businesses already pay for. They just never get turned on.
I started Yeager Technology Group to set those up properly for local offices, on a schedule that doesn't interrupt your work. When you call, you get me.

Questions
The ones business owners ask first.
Do I need to upgrade my Microsoft 365 plan?
Usually yes, to Business Premium. It includes Intune, Conditional Access and Defender for Business. You buy it from Microsoft directly, and I'll tell you the exact cost during the assessment.
What happens if something breaks on a Tuesday morning?
Support clients can email any time. Standard requests are handled that evening or on the weekend. An urgent problem, like a compromised account or nobody being able to sign in, gets a best-effort response within 4 hours.
Will this help with my cyber insurance?
Yes. The security cleanup covers most of what carriers ask about: MFA, endpoint protection, backups and email security. The readiness review adds the written plan and the evidence your broker needs. Pricing is up to your carrier, but missing controls are the most common reason applications get declined or rated up.
Will my team notice any of this?
They'll set up MFA on their phone once, which takes about 10 minutes each. Everything else happens after hours.
Do you work on Macs, printers or networks?
The core packages cover Microsoft 365 and Windows laptops. Other work can be quoted separately after the assessment.
